Whether you're a seasoned performer or a newbie, this FREE event is for everyone between 18 and 25 years old who wants to express themselves creatively in the world of spoken word.
The International Poetry Workshop project is being run by the International English Library Düsseldorf,in collaboration with Reading Libraries and Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf.

The goal of the project is to bring together spoken word enthusiasts from Reading and Düsseldorf, encourage literary exchange and collaboration, and promote the arts.

In Phase 1, you will have the opportunity to learn the craft of poetry from a renowned poet in a workshop setting. Start or improve your own poems, develop your poetry skills and gain confidence in expressing yourself creatively through interactive exercises and group discussions. There will be one workshop held in Düsseldorf and a parallel workshop run in Reading.

Whether you're looking to compete in future slams or simply want to improve your poetic abilities, this workshop is the perfect platform to nurture your talent.

During Phase 2 (in the three to four weeks after the workshop), you are encouraged to write and polish your poems and submit an (amateur) video of yourself reciting one of them (max. 3 minutes).

A final online presentation event in mid- to late April will see participants from both Reading and Düsseldorf come together to experience and discuss the brilliant poetry showcase to come out of the project.
